Narrower for support?
As it is the walk of life is quite lonely, probably why this narrow passage provides support and a closed space to feel a bit more comfortable.

The walk toward infinity? its interesting to see how you can't see the end of this path.. no light on the other side of the tunnel? no way out? :)
